Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Health Center Operations provides organizational leadership to Howard Brown Health (HBH) Health Centers. The Director of Health Center Operations oversees the day-to-day operations of all clinical Health Centers, ensures that all Health Centers meet or exceed patient needs and succeed financially, and partners closely with center leadership on shared goals, objectives, and decision-making. This role also works in collaboration with leaders from dental, behavioral health, social services, finance/rev cycle, communications and public health teams to achieve the short and long-term operations goals.

 PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes, executes, and directs a leadership vision that achieves organizational goals and creates a patient-centered environment which recognizes, values, and advances the organization’s mission.
  • Directs and ensures effective collaboration across organizational departments that support and compliment delivery of care.
  • Manages, recruits, trains, evaluates, and develops direct reports through communication of expectations, providing coaching and feedback, monitoring and managing performance, and providing development opportunities on a regular basis.
  • Conducts consistent reviews of financial performance through the assessment of monthly financials including actual performance to budget and variance explanations, daily and weekly dashboard metrics, and communicates the information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensures adherence with organizational policies related to safety, clinical service delivery, human resources management, and quality improvement.
  • Leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of the Operations Department and the organization as well as supports the culture development and management efforts.
  • Ensures that communication is cascading through the centers through metric tracking, huddles, staff meetings, written communication, and other meetings.
  • Facilitates the resolution of patient and/or staff complaints.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, IDPH, FQHC, and other regulatory agency standards in partnership with other leaders.
  • Ensures compliance with rules and regulations that impact clinic operations, including participation in audits and the development and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  •  Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience in healthcare management is required.

or

  • Advanced degree and 5 years of experience in healthcare management is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and skillfully handle complex issues and problems as they arise.
  • Ability to create a patient-centered environment that recognizes values and advances the organization’s mission.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of current practices and the roles and functions of direct reports .
  • Fundamental understanding of the business of Health care and financial acumen.
  • Strong customer service and client orientation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) principles and practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Willingness and desire to work with the LGBTQ+ community.

 Preferred:

  • EPIC her experience is preferred.
  • Prior FQHC operations leadership is preferred.
  • Bilingual - Spanish/English is preferred.

 

ADA SPECIFICATIONS

  • Requires ability to speak audibly and listen actively.
  • Requires ability to use computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
  • Requires ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • May require occasional bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Operating a motor vehicle.
  • May require periodic travel.
  • Operating heavy equipment or power tools
