Director Of Finance

Position Title: Finance Director

Report To: Executive Director

Description: The Finance Director is responsible for the overall financial health and forecasting for the agency. The Finance Director plays an integral role on the Administration Team and works with the variety of directors ensuring the finances of the agency are being monitored and spent according to regulatory standards.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field; Must possess a valid Driver’s License; CPA preferred

Experience: At least 5 years experience in non-profit or corporate accounting and management. Knowledge of HUD and VA regulations preferred. Individual must also possess prior experience with employee supervision. Individual seeking this position must be capable of implementing financial management principles to effectively manage the agency’s overall budge as well as individual department budget. Experience in public speaking as the individual will be presenting financial reports and information monthly to the Board of Directors and explaining the reports. At least 2 years with Quick Books and other donor relation software required.

Responsibilities:

· Maintain trainings in suicide risk assessment, mandatory child and dependent adult abuse and neglect reporting, crisis intervention, and civil rights, housing discrimination, harm reduction, trauma informed care and housing first practices.

2. Financial Management:

• Oversee all financial operations and manage overall accounting for HHSI in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Work with the Administrative Team and Board of Directors to create the agency’s annual budget; monitor budget to Profit and Loss monthly.
• Prepare the agency for regular audits and tax functions, coordinating activities with outside firms
• Oversee budgeting and financial forecasting, and cash flow for the agency. Share this monthly with both the Executive Director and Board of Directors
• Ensure journal entries are entered and accounts reconciled monthly
• Oversee investment, loan, and tax credit property portfolios according to the guidance of the Executive Director and Board of Directors
• Assist with the purchase and transfer of real estate.
• Work with the Executive Director in selecting and managing property insurance for the agency.
• Assist with the financial needs of the agency’s strategic plan and comprehensive campaign.
• Oversees agency’s purchase order system and ensures it’s accuracy.
• Works with the Executive Director and Director of Continuous Quality and Program Improvement to ensure agency’s policy and procedures financial policies are reviewed yearly.

3. Personnel Management:

• Recruit, hire, train and supervise all Finance Department employees
• Oversees work of Finance Department team in order to show separation of duties
• Assist Executive Director in managing employee benefits, retirement plans, and employer-provided insurance

4. Grants and Development Management Oversight:

• With the Director of Programming and Director of Grant Initiatives to create program grant budgets; monitor the spend down of these budgets with both positions as well the Supervisor of the Program monthly.
• Ensure grant requests, draws and reports are completed in a timely manner
• Works with the Strategic Initiatives and Grants Manager to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Provide accurate and timely information to the Director of Development including cost/benefit analysis for development programming.

5. Community and Board Relations:

• Develops and maintains relationships with current banking institutions, investment institutions and HHSI Board of Directors
• Serves on the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors
• Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required

6. Other Duties

· Regularly promotes the agencies’ mission and advocates for social justice

· Attend and assist in running mandatory agency meetings as assigned.

· Completes yearly required compliance training and ensures staff completes yearly compliance training.

· Assists with volunteer events and other agency events as needed.

· Performs other duties, as needed

Schedule:

Full-Time—30 to 40 hours weekly; Schedule may vary. Hy-bird position of both in office work and remote work allowed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
