As the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Director, you will be responsible for The Mutual Groups planning, forecasting, budgeting, and analytical activities providing updated key financial health metrics to allow for business decisions. In this role, you will provide strategic financial input to the leadership, assist in the creation of the overall business strategy of the company and execute the associated financial strategy. You will recommend solutions, drive results and foster collaboration and accountability.
Responsibilities:
LEADERSHIP
- Timely completion of financial management reports presenting findings and recommendations to leadership. Prepares materials regarding financial results and projections to various stakeholders.
- Directs financial plan updates and projections on a regular basis throughout the year and produces one year and multi-year pro formas and scenarios.
- Leads the annual financial plan creation process, including expenses, divisional and departmental budgets, reforecasts, and variance analysis.
- Oversees corporate financial analysis, modelling, forecasting and business intelligence efforts to ensure efficient financial operations. Reviews analysis results and develops insights and suggestions for effective Financial Planning, management and cost reduction.
- Ensures appropriate expense allocations between divisions and across product lines, including expense allocations, analysis and by-line financials, in coordination with corporate actuarial.
- Works with the executive leadership team and key stakeholders to support business initiatives and projects, providing support and direction on cost-benefit analysis and appropriate financial treatment and impacts (capitalization, expense, etc.).
- Assists in the preparation of rating agency materials.
- Supports due diligence around M&A and other growth opportunities.
STRATEGY
- Creates and maintains the strategic financial plan that aligns with the company’s plan for growth and expense monitoring.
- Plans and implements finance transformation systems and processes, including process automation, updated ledger and FP&A systems, etc.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration or related field, or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- Minimum eight (8) years of multifaceted accounting experience.
- Advanced financial analytic ability and attention to numeric and other detail.
- Ability to synthesize and analyse financial, operational and qualitative information and make insightful observations and recommendations for effective financial controls and management.
- Knowledgeable of GAAP and Statutory Accounting principles.
- Experience at a global public accounting firm and/or public company desired.
