POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of the Enrollment Management Division, the Assistant Director of Financial Planning coordinates financial aid information and processing. The Assistant Director is knowledgeable and current in their understanding of federal, state and institutional aid. The Assistant Director administers various forms of student financial aid, assists with award processing, disbursement, compliance monitoring and reporting. The Assistant Director works directly with students and families to understand and support their unique financial circumstances.

Responsible for auditing and reconciling financial aid accounts and packaging financial aid awards.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Continually develops knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Assists students and parents with completing financial aid applications.
  • Packages incoming and returning student awards.
  • Monitors returning students for satisfactory academic progress
  • Communicates complex information effectively - to groups and one on one.
  • Manages annual review of Loras College Financial Aid website and net price calculator.
  • Participates in student orientation sessions.
  • Assists in implementing financial aid self-service module.
  • Assists with annual audit preparations.
  • Handles confidential work with tact and discretion.
  • Attends state and federal meetings and workshops as necessary for professional development.
  • Works effectively with multiple campus offices to serve students, including admission, advancement, business office, registrar and academic affairs.
  • Supports the mission and vison of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition,
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience: Previous work experience in a financial setting, preferably in a college/university environment.

Computer Skills: Skilled in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite. Competency with complex software applications, specifically database and web-based tools.

Other Requirements: Ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students, parents and other college employees, using a teamwork approach. Ability to think creatively to improve processes as it relates to our students and families' experience. Fluent in Spanish preferred.
