POSITION OVERVIEW

174 Power Global is seeking an energetic, experienced engineer with excellent technical judgment and solid management skills to support development and execution of large solar power generation and energy storage projects from conceptual engineering to commercial operation. Overseeing a team comprising in-house project engineers and third-party consultants, the successful candidate will define, plan and manage design activities, desktop studies and field investigations, consulting assignments and contractor scopes of work. This position will work closely with project origination, development and execution teams, contributing specialist expertise and unique industry experience to create technically and economically advanced project designs and proposals; develop standardized systems and procedures; and create innovative solutions to project site constraints.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and manage project development engineering activities and support technical diligence on site selection and project acquisitions;
  • Plan and manage engineering for PV and ESS projects; optimize system designs to achieve targets for production, generating capacity, capital cost, financial returns, etc.;
  • Perform or oversee analyses to optimize site layouts and equipment selection to maximize performance and minimize lifecycle costs;
  • Develop, refine or evaluate energy input assessments and power output expectations;
  • Direct activities of designers, consultants and contractors, and manage meetings and conference calls to achieve efficient use of resources, meet deadlines for deliverables, minimize delays, avoid crises and resolve conflicts;
  • Write, edit and/or review technical scope of work documents, specifications, procedures, site reports, progress reports, feasibility studies, proposals, presentations, etc.; review and negotiate technical aspects of EPC contracts, interconnection agreements, etc.;
  • Contribute to development of Engineering capability, project engineering management processes; technology roadmap, software tools, etc.;
  • Coordinate with Development team and external consultants to deliver energy resource predictions and production simulations, shading studies, electrical schematics, plant and equipment layouts, system cost estimates, EPC contracts, technical exhibits, etc.;
  • Support the ongoing search for improved system cost and performance by contributing to evaluations of new techniques, technologies, systems and components, and be a resource regarding emerging regulations, technologies and techniques in the clean energy industry;
  • All other duties as assigned by Management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MS degree in Engineering or technical Architecture, or closely related numerate discipline.
  • Substantial relevant experience in renewable energy project development and/or construction, with evidence of increasing technical and supervisory responsibility;
  • Minimum seven years' direct experience of technical analysis, design and engineering to support site development, permitting and construction for large energy projects is essential;
  • Familiarity with overseeing energy forecasting using PVSyst, PlantPredict, or similar tools, or proven ability to become proficient with power or energy modeling software and systems;
  • Detailed knowledge and thorough understanding of site assessment, project development, interconnection, and environmental permitting processes; cost estimating; construction scheduling; EPC contract terms and technical exhibits;
  • High proficiency in MS Office suite. Project scheduling software experience is an advantage;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communications, analytical and quantitative skills;
  • Proven ability to manage consultants, designers, or contractors and to run effective meetings in person or using telephone, MS Outlook, and virtual conferencing tools;

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated high achiever with ability to multi-task, and perform duties in a collaborative working environment;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to projects sites or meetings, typically 10-30%; when necessary, able to work overtime on short notice.
