Senior Unreal Engine Technical Director Animation

The Senior Unreal Engine Technical Director will lead the implementation and optimization of our animation workflows within the Unreal Engine. The candidate will play a pivotal role in defining the techniques and pipeline for bringing high-quality, dynamic, and immersive animations to life in our projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding of Unreal Engine, combined with a solid background in animation.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with animators, designers, and other Technical Directors to define and implement animation workflows within Unreal Engine.
• Utilize Unreal Engine's tools to create innovative and visually stunning animations for our projects.
• Optimize the performance of our animation systems within Unreal Engine.
• Develop and maintain the technical documentation related to animation workflows in Unreal Engine.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the animation process.
• Conduct research and development into new animation techniques and their implementation in Unreal Engine.
• Train and mentor team members in the use of Unreal Engine's animation systems.
• Collaborate with other Technical Directors to ensure smooth integration of animation assets into the game engine.
• Identify opportunities to improve our animation tools and processes and drive the implementation of solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Unreal Engine and animation technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Animation, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience working with Unreal Engine, with a focus on animation.
• Strong knowledge of animation principles and techniques.
• Proficiency in using Unreal Engine's animation tools, including Animation Blueprints, Sequencer, and the control rig system.
• Knowledge of optimization techniques within Unreal Engine.
• Proficient with Python or other scripting languages.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to mentor and train others.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with real-time motion capture systems.
• Familiarity with character rigging and deformation.
• Familiarity with other game engines like Unity.
• Knowledge of C++ and the Unreal Engine API.
