The Slone Epidemiology Center, a multi-disciplinary research group at BUMC, is seeking a Data Manager to join a collaborative team of researchers. The Data Manager will have the opportunity to participate in exciting research for the Black Womens Health Study, working with a tight-knit, dedicated, friendly group of people including eight Boston University faculty, four data analysts, and over 15 research support staff. The Data Manager will oversee all data management activities for the large cohort study, including overseeing the activities of the data analysts; assuring the validity and accuracy of analytic datasets created; assuring accurate documentation of data preparation, manipulation, and coding; and managing the integration of new data into existing databases.
Required SkillsProgramming/Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency with SAS - must be able to interpret coding from other programmers, write and use macros, perform data management tasks (queries, import/export), and have familiarity with PROC PHREG and PROC GENMOD
Microsoft office: must demonstrate working knowledge of Access, and be able to make tables in Excel and Word
Other skills/experience: Excellent communication skills for effective communication and coordination with investigators (internal & external), epidemiologists, statisticians, data analysts, and database/application developers Demonstrated experience with longitudinal data analysis methods.
Education/experience: Masters degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or Statistics and five years of experience in analysis and/or management of epidemiologic data required.
