Customer Service Representative

Description

The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications for a Customer Service Representative for our Planning & Protective Services Department. This position provides excellent Customer Service to citizens and customers pertaining to City services, programs and functions; collects revenues; issues various licenses and permits; receives and refers calls to appropriate locations; answers inquiries and assists administrative staff and performs other clerical duties.

Examples of Duties

Greets all walk-in citizens and customers for the Planning & Protective Services and Public Works Department.

Receives and refer callers, answer various inquiries, provide information on departmental services, programs and functions.
Assists with department business; maintain computer records, update files, and issue permits and track correspondence.

Receives inspection requests and refers the request to the appropriate inspector.

Typical Qualifications

Physical: Ability to type with accuracy with interruption, lift up to 25 pounds, and sit for extended periods.
Mental: Ability to concentrate on work and maintain accuracy with constant interruption; perform numerical detail work with speed and accuracy, make difficult mathematical computations, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures; business English, spelling, grammar, and arithmetic; use of office equipment. Ability to make moderately complex decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures; maintain office records; prepare accurate reports; perform office management details without referral to a supervisor; and computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Supplemental Information

This position will work Monday - Friday from 8AM to 5PM.
This position is anticipated to start at the minimum annual salary range.
