- Supervise lower level custodian workers, including ensuring adherence to safe work practices and procedures, assigning work, preparing schedules, training staff on the proper use of equipment and performing related activities.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate level of supplies and equipment; negotiate prices with janitorial supply vendors; initiate purchases.
- Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restrooms; replenish and maintain restroom supplies including soap dispensers, tissue and towels.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, strip and polish floors including linoleum and hardwood floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
- Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment; wash windows, mirrors and walls including window blinds and shutters; clean and polish metal fixtures.
- Clean desks, tables and countertops; empty, clean and sanitize waste receptacles; dispose of bio-hazardous materials appropriately; may replace lights and clean ceiling vents.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment as necessary; may maintain and adjust assigned equipment fluid levels.
- Open and secure assigned buildings and facilities; may clean outside areas near building; pick up paper and other debris.
- Organize and maintain storage rooms and equipment.
- May perform minor and major repair work of property including furniture.
Experience:
Two years of custodial experience.
Training:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability.
Preferred:
Cleaning certification.
