Position Description
Corporate transactional attorney with a desire and ability to learn industry-specific skill sets.
Provides a full range of company-wide legal analysis, advice, and solutions to the organization. Responsibilities will include serving as primary point of contact for one or more of the company's upstream business units and representing the Company in negotiations with landowners, royalty owners, joint interest owners, customers, and suppliers.
Assists as needed with acquisitions and divestitures, SEC and NYSE compliance, and corporate governance.
Provides legal support for all facets of Callon's operations, working closely with Corporate Development, Accounting, Treasury and Finance, Land, EHS, Sustainability, Regulatory, and Information Technology groups. Lots of room for growth and an opportunity to build upon existing skills as well as gain experience in new areas.
Supervises outside counsel in litigation defense and other matters.
The Corporate Counsel is a roll-up the sleeves, boots on the ground type of attorney who focuses on practical, business-oriented solutions.
9/80 work schedule, with Friday (WFH) half days.
Requirements
Juris doctorate from an A.B.A. Accredited Law School.
This is a transactional-focused role, with essential skills involving contract review, drafting and negotiation, excellent communication skills and the ability to take ownership of projects.
A member in good standing of the Texas state bar.
A minimum of four (4) years of experience with a major corporate law firm, with progressive responsibilities in areas of mergers and acquisitions, SEC compliance, or other areas associated with a sophisticated transactional legal practice.
Knowledge of Exploration and Production activities is required.
Experience with contract review/negotiation is required and experience with Land-related matters is preferred.
In-house experience is a positive attribute.
