As a Corporate Counsel working on litigation matters, you will work with the VP & Associate General Counsel to represent the company in a variety of civil litigation matters, both in administrative and judicial forums. You will work closely with internal clients to analyze and prepare legal documents and deliver legal advice. You will also work on other general business and regulatory matters.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
In this role, you can expect to:
- Draft and analyze legal documents in a variety of litigation matters, including subrogation, employment, breach of contract, and workers' compensation benefits disputes.
- Represent the company in a variety of litigation matters in all stages in both administrative and judicial forums.
- Negotiate agreements and settlements with third parties.
- Work closely with internal business departments to help solve their issues before litigation.
- Provide advice on legal and business-related issues to management and staff upon request.
- Assist with legal strategy.
It's required that you:
- Have a Doctor of Jurisprudence from an accredited school of law.
- Have 2-5 years of general litigation practice or equivalent education, training, or experience.
- Are licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
- Have high attention to detail.
- Have excellent communication, advocacy, and organizational skills.
- Are highly collaborative.
- Are knowledgeable of laws and caselaw pertaining to civil litigation matters, such as Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Texas Rules of Evidence, and Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code.
It would be great if you:
- Have first-chair trial and motion practice experience.
- Have experience in workers' compensation, insurance, or employment law.
- Are a passionate individual who will bring enthusiasm and energy to the team.
- Are a versatile self-starter and self-motivator to proactively deliver value to the team and to our business.
- Possess a strategic mindset to think innovatively.
