TITLE: Web Content Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Marketing and Communications

DIVISION: Marketing and Communications

STATUS: Exempt, Full-time: M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., hybrid / flexible work schedule possible.


As a member of our exempt work force there could be occasions when a commitment beyond the normal workweek may be required.

SALARY RANGE: $54,000 to $58,000

Description: Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Web Content Specialist acts as the College’s expert on smart, strategic, on-brand content for the College’s web and digital platforms. This professional will use their skills to promote brand awareness and community engagement through strong organic digital strategy and content development. Working with partners across the College, the Web Content Specialist will strive to ensure that Northeast’s web and digital channels are relevant and useful to primary audience(s); align with the school’s brand and strategic goals; are current, clear, and consistent; and tell the best Northeast story. This team member will be an excellent communicator, strategic thinker, versatile project manager and enthusiastic member of the College community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategy
    1. Help build iterative Web Content strategy that maps to the College’s mission, brand and goals, and implement that strategy via concrete, measurable tactics.
    2. Monitor online competitor presence/perceptions, new digital trends and platforms, etc. to identify new opportunities and ensure best practices.
    3. Identify improvements for website usability and functionality.
    4. Propose and oversee initiatives to grow organic web traffic.
  • Creation and Stewardship
    1. Act as the College’s digital content marketer, partnering with teammates and stakeholders to identify, create and publish targeted content on northeastcollege.edu in support of the College’s business objectives and user expectations.
    2. Identify projects that distill large concepts and ideas into short-format, cross-channel stories.
    3. Manage and implement Web Content calendar.
    4. Steward Web Content lifecycle, including creating and publishing new content; editing existing content; and removing expired content.
    5. Assist with coordination between website and other digital channels, such as social media.
    6. Optimize Web Content for paid and organic search engine rankings (e.g. SEO).
  • Project Management
    1. Use strong project management principles to meet project requirements and timelines.
    2. Manage Web Content requests.
    3. Build strong relationships internal and external subject matter experts.
    4. Regularly monitor Web Content performance and provide monthly analytics reports, along with data-based recommendations for adjustment.
    5. Assure that public-facing web and digital content meets regulatory standards (ADA, FERPA, copyright, privacy, etc.)
  • Professional Activities
    1. Participate in College committees.
    2. Engage in professional development activities.
    3. Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned.

Methods of Accountability:

  1. Verbal and written communications with the vice president of marketing and communications.
  2. Creation and fulfillment of plans and tactics.
  3. Verbal and written feedback from faculty, staff, and students, as well as other College stakeholders.
  4. Positive working relationships with colleagues.
  5. Compliance with College policies and procedures.
  6. Performance evaluations by the vice president of marketing and communications.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
  2. Minimum 2-4 years related professional experience in marketing and communications; preference for individuals with experience in web/digital strategy and content development in an environment involving multiple stakeholders.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of digital communications, organic content marketing and strategy, search engine optimization, and web analytics reporting.
  4. Comfort with technology, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Web Content management systems (e.g. Drupal), and social media platforms.
  5. Experience using data to drive decisions.
  6. Strong organizational and project management skills.
  7. Excellent communication skills, including outstanding marketing-focused writing skills.
