We're looking for a Fiscal Analyst 1 (FA1) to join our dynamic team in Olympia. The Opportunity:
As a Fiscal Analyst 1 (FA1), you are a resource for the Financial Business Services Division by processing contracts, vendor, employee and non-employee reimbursements, and assigned credit card statements. You will conduct financial reviews and analysis of fiscal data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Some of what you will do:
- Process contract payments for the Operations team within the Accounting Unit.
- Process in the Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS), payments to contractors after reviewing for accuracy, validity, and compliance with federal, state, and agency policies.
- Process in the Contract and Procurement System (CAPS) and Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS), payments to contractors by reviewing all invoices for accuracy, validity, and compliance with state, federal, and agency policies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain multiple financial tracking tools to monitor executed contract awards, sources of funding, payments, and balances.

- Review financial data and prepare monthly accruals to record accurate financial information in AFRS for the end of each accounting period, monthly and annually.
- Communicate with staff and customers in person, over the phone, or in writing to identify need, provide information, or direct customers to applicable resources.
- Ensure all desk manual procedures are up-to-date and accurate.
- Serve as backup to other unit staff by completing essential functions of the job.
What we are looking for:
An Associate's degree, and one year of relevant experience OR Equivalent education/experience (three years total)
Degree must be obtained from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent verified by a NACES-approved organization at naces.org.
Foreign Equivalency certification must be attached to the application for degrees obtained outside the U.S. Incomplete applications may be screened out of the recruitment process.
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
Bachelor's degree, which includes at least 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing or budgeting. Professional experience may substitute for education but not usually for the credit hours. A Master's degree in a financial related field, certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Governmental Financial Manager or Management Accountant can substitute for professional experience
