The Brevard Humane Society (BHS) is seeking a full-time opportunity for an experienced Community Outreach Specialist Assistant and would be responsible for working with the current coordinator and facilitating the smooth running of daily operations and the success of Community Outreach efforts, developing, and assisting with all aspects of the Volunteer and Foster Recruitment Programs. These programs include, but are not limited to, recruitment and retention, maintaining records and schedules, and serving as liaison with the community to attract volunteers, and also working closely with the BHS Executive Director (ED). Will be expected to support event activities in the community. Must have strong compassion for animals. Must have two years of experience with office procedures, be detail-oriented, and a self-starter who is proficient with computers and various volunteer tracking software programs (Bookings, Volgistics, Advantage+, PetPoint, Constant Contact, DonorSnap, Microsoft software) and be comfortable communicating with all levels of staff and volunteers daily. Some of your responsibilities will include:
· Communicate with fosters on a weekly basis about our animals in their care, as well as schedule appointments using calendar and appointment software.
· Assist with the coordination of volunteers, animal handling, and transportation of inventory to and from events as needed.
· Lead group orientations and tours and assist with volunteer orientation and training classes.
To be successful in this role you will need:
· Excellent time management skills, an analytical mind, well-organized, and can jump from one project to another as needed.
· Must possess confidence in giving presentations and communicating with individuals as well as groups and be comfortable correcting and holding individuals to standards.
· Good administrative and IT skills (including Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel, Constant Contact, Volgistics, Advantage) are required.
· Able to carry/lift 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods, indoors and out which, on occasion, may expose you to high/low temperatures and adverse climates.
· Desire to learn how to care for neonatal kittens.
· A valid license and a clean driving record.
· Able to work weekends and holidays as needed. Normal schedule will be Sunday - Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm.
Full-time, salaried position; 36-40K dependent upon experience.
