Our Mission: Working together to save lives through organ and tissue donation

LifeCenter Northwest is one of the 56 federally designated Organ Procurement Organizations in the country. LifeCenter Northwest saves and enhances lives by facilitating the recovery of organs and tissues in Alaska, Montana, North Idaho, and Washington.

We’re hiring a Communications Assistant or Communications Intern.

This position will support the work of the LifeCenter Northwest communications team. Our work includes developing stories, graphics, and educational materials to raise awareness about the lifesaving power of organ, eye and tissue donation, and the importance of registering to be a donor. The team also creates communications plans and materials for internal stakeholders, assists with events, and works with hospitals, media, and legislators. The person in this role will provide copywriting, editing, story and content development, graphic design, social media, and outreach services to members of our team.

We would ideally like to find students interested in a long-term Internship of six months or more or candidates seeking temporary part-time employment lasting up to one year. LifeCenter Northwest will adhere to university requirements to enable the receipt of college credits for an internship arrangement.

What you will do:

  • Assist with interviewing, writing and editing of stories featuring staff, donor families and recipients.
  • Assist with updates for LCNW’s social media accounts and website.
  • Assist in the development of outreach campaigns, help set goals to increase followers and donation awareness, and monitor the effectiveness of promotion efforts.
  • Assist with the production of high-quality, creative photography and videography to support communications efforts and strengthen storytelling.
  • Assist with graphic design, including but not limited to the creation of flyers, social media images, and invitations.
  • Stay up to date with news and information regarding organ, eye, and tissue donation and the transplantation industry.
  • Work with the community relations program manager on networking and relationship building and participate in community outreach events.
  • Support the local Donor Family Aftercare Donation Celebration events in Western Washington.

What you need:

  • The ability to work up to 20 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours.
  • Relevant work experience can be considered and substituted for academic requirements.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer. For those that need to complete the vaccination series, start dates will be adjusted.

Who we want:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English is strongly desired.
  • Flexibility (i.e., work assignments, planning, and scheduling).
  • Strong personal and interpersonal skills (i.e., clear speaking, diplomatic, considerate, sensitive, collaborative, and patient) and desire and ability to work with people from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to prepare, with minimal supervision, correspondence, stories, and/or presentations.
  • Ability to independently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze and assess situations and create solutions.
  • Knowledge of personal computers with at least intermediate or preferably advanced skills with: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other comparable software programs.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or other graphic design software platforms.
