Position Title:Social Media and Communications Intern
Purpose: The Social media and Communications Internsupports Eastside Audubon by building awareness of the organization’s work through established communication channels The Social Media and Communications Intern will have the opportunity to learn new skills, grow the Eastside Audubon Society’s Social Media presence and contribute to our diversity goals. Under the Communications Chair, the Social media and Communications Intern will assist in the story telling of local area birding and conservation programs, events, and promotion of upcoming group programs and fundraising events. This internship has an expectation of 4 hours per week through 2024.
Location: The work is remote, but you must live in our service area (Bothell, Woodinville, Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue, Duvall, Carnation, Sammamish, Issaquah, Fall City, or North Bend).
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating Social Media content that represents the brand message and personality of The Eastside Audubon Society on our main Social Media channels- Facebook and Instagram
- Interacting with followers, local nonprofits and other accounts to keep engagement levels up.
- Researching and assisting with the implementation of Social Media strategies that promote programs and raise awareness of EAS.
- Coordinating with the Communications team regarding Social Media analytics, growth strategies, etc.
- Assisting with community outreach and fundraising events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Communications Chair.
Qualifications:
- Current college or high school student with a major in either communications, marketing, journalism, or public policy.
- Understanding of basic communications approaches and strategies.
- Writing and copy editing experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor. Sensitivity to different opinions.
- Self-motivated problem solver capable of working as part of a team.
- Proficient with Meta Business suite and LinkTree.
- Experience with Square Space.
- Passion for the EAS mission. Interest in birding, conservation and the environment.
- The ability to meet deadlines.
Successful Internship: EAS would like the intern to experience hands-on development in a career and learn practical skills for the future. We encourage interns to:

Responsible to: Communications Chairperson
Length of Appointment: Minimum commitment of one year
Time Commitment: 4 hours per week.
Support: Training for this position will be provided and a supervisor will be available to answer questions and offer guidance during the internship.
Renumeration: This position pays $17 per hour and is not to exceed $3500per calendar year.
