POSITION SUMMARY:
The main goal of this role is to ensure that the Internal Communications culture across Northwest Harvest (NWH) is rooted in accessibility, equity and multi directional feedback and engagement. In doing so, this role engages in cutting hunger rates in half by 2028 through cultivating curiosity, collaboration and sharing across NWH while actively and collaboratively empowering the professional lives of NWH employees to be challenging and fulfilling.
This role will focus on increasing employees’ connection to the NWH mission, strategies, and organization as well as increasing employees’ effectiveness in their role at NWH in ways that allow information and communication to be democratized and not over reliant on ‘top down’ leadership communication.
Schedule: This position may be required to work occasional off-shift hours as necessary for special events or other duties assigned.
Travel: This position may be required to travel 3-5 days a month within the state of Washington.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Internal Communications Planning and Execution
Support the development of the communications strategic plan, implement the plan, and monitor the plan.
Awareness and understanding of political acumen and nuanced communications as the primary disseminator of information on behalf of the agency.
Facilitate multidirectional communication – the exchange between people and not only product delivery – within the organization in ways that reflect what staff need and in which ways
Re-vamp communications vehicles where needed and build new communications tools in order to respond to various levels of communication (‘headlines’ vs in-depth articles, etc.]
Create and manage a calendar for the organization, showing internal and external meetings and events, communications, all team meetings, and other activities.
Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
Manage and create engaging content for the Internal Communications channels.
Develop and disseminate CEO Internal Communications.
Supply headline level information to all staff on a weekly basis.
Advance IC planning to remain ‘live’ and agile in response to ongoing learnings and feedback
Enhancing a culture of Collaboration and Connection
Collaborate closely with EP office to leverage staff engagement and values-based connections
Facilitate people getting to know each other while championing cross-functional alignment and collaboration.
Build feedback mechanisms to facilitate staff feedback, respond to feedback, and adjust communications content accordingly.
Segment NWH employees into natural constituencies and document information needs and sharing priorities for each constituency.
