A commercial community development bank is looking to hire a Commercial Credit Analyst to primarily work on commercial real estate underwriting. This role involves reporting to and assisting the Commercial Underwriting Manager in overseeing the Bank's loan portfolio. You will take on the responsibility of managing complex lending relationships, conducting occasional underwriting, and serving as a senior subject matter expert internally and externally. While not directly involved in business development, you must identify opportunities and refer them to the appropriate bank department, and you will also play a crucial role in portfolio metrics measurement, credit portfolio knowledge, and the bank's CECL methodology selection, development, and implementation process.
Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management (40%): Monitor and analyze a portfolio of commercial loans, identifying potential issues, recommending risk rating changes, and implementing strategies for loan collection and upgrading risk ratings.
- Credit Support and Underwriting (60%): Conduct comprehensive analysis of customer financial information, collateral, and risk ratings, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Collaborate on the CECL implementation process and manage data integrity during the transition period.
- Leadership and Supervision: Foster a positive organizational atmosphere aligned with the company's vision and values. Contribute to department goals, maintain high morale, and deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients.
Required Knowledge/Skills:
- 4+ years of experience in Commercial Credit, financial statement analysis, portfolio management, and customer service required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; 3 additional years of Commercial Credit underwriting and analysis may substitute for a degree.
- Completion of formal or in-house credit training is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, credit analysis systems, and hands-on experience with a bank core system.
- Extensive supervisory experience, strong attention to detail, and demonstrated problem-solving skills, especially in commercial, construction, and real estate loan underwriting. Knowledge of the bank's balance sheet, state and federal lending regulations, and bank lending policies is essential.
