JOB SUMMARY:

Credit training in all aspects of lending to eventually become proficient as a Credit Analyst with the potential of progressing, based upon performance and job availability, to a Commercial Loan Officer position.

SUB-CATEGORIES (levels of Credit Analyst – Jr. CA, CA, and CAII):

There are three levels of achievement as a Credit Analyst, starting with Junior Credit Analyst (the most elementary), to Credit Analyst, to eventually Credit Analyst II. Levels are outlined in the bank’s “Lender Career Training Program,” and are based on education, length of employment, experience, job knowledge, and performance level.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The primary goal of this position is to become proficient in credit analysis of all types of business and consumer loans through both on-the-job and formal training courses, and to gain sales skills in order to eventually become a Commercial Loan Officer.

SCOPE:

1. Credit Investigation and Analysis.

2. Establish and Maintain Credit Files.

3. Follow existing credit relationships to insure compliance with loan conditions.

4. Perform other duties, as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Credit Investigation and Analysis:

Ø Conducts in-depth credit investigation, evaluation and analysis of credit worthiness of commercial and consumer loan customers.

Ø Investigates credit history of customers by ordering credit reports from Experian, Dun & Bradstreet, Data Quick, and other references

Ø Prepares financial spreads.

Ø Assists in Preparation of Preflight and Credit Presentations.

Ø Evaluates information and completes credit write-ups for renewals and new loans, as requested and identified by lending officers.

2. Establish and Maintain Credit Files:

Ø Ensures that customer credit information, such as loan application, financial statements, tax information, credit history from TRW, Dun & Bradstreet and other trade references, deposit account information letters are incorporated in the file and is up-to-date.

Ø Ensures that follow-up customer is obtained in a timely manner.

Ø Ensures financial statements are current and in accordance with loan agreements.

3. Follows existing credit line relationships to insure compliance with loan conditions.

Ø Reviews maturing loan report and coordinates with Account Officer in the notification of customer for credit renewals.

Ø Assist the Commercial Loan Officers in preparation for compliance and safety and soundness exams.

Ø Prepares and send out renewal notification letters to customers, signed by Loan Officers requesting updated credit information and financial statements, as necessary.

Ø Ensures that all loan covenants are adhered to and that all required customer information is obtained in a timely manner. Notify account office and Loan Administration of any covenant violations.

Ø Evaluate loans for changes in risk and make recommendations on any risk rating changes.

Ø Assist Asset Based Credit Analyst to insure collateral reviews (i.e. audits and monthly borrowing certificates) are performed on a timely basis.

4. Performs other duties, as assigned.

Ø Works with and coordinates with other Credit Analysts on special projects.

Ø Scan loan files for storage and retrieval of electronic copies. Call back scanned files to ensure they are scanned correctly by other Credit Analysts.

Ø Coordinate with the Note Department to request loan documents and assist Commercial Loan Officers in loan closings.

Ø Participate in various training meetings as necessary. Assist Commercial Loan Officers in educating other loan staff in compliance and safety and soundness topics.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/GOALS:

1. Provide highest level of customer service.

2. Support the Credit Department team, willingly fill in where and when needed.

3. Process work accurately and with a sense of urgency, meeting turnaround goals.

4. Consistently display a positive attitude, working as a team with a “fully satisfactory” attendance and punctuality record.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

1. Preferred: concurrent enrollment in Business/Accounting/Economics or equivalent experience.

2. Preferred: strong financial or accounting background, education, or experience.

3. Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills; positive attitude with team-player approach.

4. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments; detail oriented with flexibility in dealing with a changing work environment, customer service oriented and a strong sense of urgency.

Computer literate in Windows, Word, Excel software.
