Job Description
The Cleaning/Detailing Manager is be responsible for ensuring we have the sharpest motorcoaches on the road. This position is also responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and mentoring of inside and outside detailers, cleaners, and washers. Also responsible for making sure the offices are cleaned as well. This is an important role in the company, as our motorcoaches are the "face" of the company, and must always be clean and looking great! The regular schedule for this position will be Friday - Wednesday, 8:00 pm-4:30 am, with additional hours as needed.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of a seven day cleaning department. This includes providing direction, coaching, motivating, and counseling the cleaning staff. Ensures cleaning staff is productive and meeting performance expectations.
- Responsible for scheduling all cleaning staff. Monitors over-time and time off schedules.
- Oversees the training of all new Cleaners and ensures cross training is completed.
- Fosters a team atmosphere and works with the cleaning crew to ensure our fleet meets our cleaning standards and our vehicles are ready to go!
- Ensures Cleaners are trained and/or informed on proper cleaning techniques and procedures, and that they follow those procedures/techniques accurately, timely, and completely.
- Responsible for coaching, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions of the cleaning staff.
- Be a role model and exhibit the professional and productive behaviors also expected of the cleaning staff
- Accurately assigns vehicles for cleaning per dispatching report.
- Completes fuel reports in a timely manner.
- Inspects vehicles after they are cleaned and ensures cleaning checklists are completed for each vehicle.
- Responsible for confirming cleaning supplies are stocked and available to cleaners.
- Maintains good internal and external customer relations.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, in a clear and professional manner at all times
- Ensures compliance with DOT, EPA and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Ensures all vehicles are cleaned and washed as needed, to the expected level. This includes support vehicles such as cars and vans.
- Ensures end of shift procedures are followed with entire cleaning crew.
- Ensure a safe and productive working environment.
- Ensure customer satisfaction with properly cleaned equipment.
- Complies with company scheduled hours and work demands. Must have reliable attendance, start shift on time and work until shifts are completed. Will work weekend shifts as needed.
- Works in excess of normal working hours as workloads and seasonal activities are encountered.
- Complies with and implements company and safety policies and procedures
- Monitors processes continuously and recommends improvements to the processes.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- One to two years supervisory or lead experience
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Current Valid Driver’s License – Clean record
- Strong management skills, and have the ability to manage a staff of Cleaners on day and night shifts
- Must have basic computer skills and ability to enter data and run reports from dispatch and vehicle maintenance systems, and access and respond to company e-mails
- Ability to safely drive motorcoaches and other vehicles in and out of the wash bay and park on the lot, without incident. Vehicles may consist of motorcoaches, school buses, vans, and cars.
- Ability to lift 25-30 lbs
- Ability to effectively communicate and work closely with the dispatcher
- Must be able to work independently and use time efficiently and effectively
- Consistently demonstrate an ability to recognize and set priorities.
- Ability to perform all duties in an independent manner and problem solve with minimum direction from manager
- Mechanical knowledge is helpful
- Must be able to use power wash machine and use repetitive motion with machine and wash brushes, squeegees etc.
- A very physically demanding position, and on your feet constantly. Must have the ability to open bus bay doors and use the pressure washer for extended periods of time, which can be stressful on the body. Will be working in wet and hot and cold conditions in a maintenance shop environment.
- Ability to assist in wash/clean up of 12 to 20 buses/vehicles per night
- Ability to work with various cleaning soaps and chemicals
- Must be a team player and willing to accept and support company processes and systems
