Job Summary:

The Chief of Staff (CofS) role is a results-focused individual who can work across operations, strategy, and all functional areas to ensure the successful execution of key priorities. In this role, you will support and report to the Founder / Chief Visionary Officer (CVO). To be successful in the role, the CofS must accomplish the following:

Who We are Looking For:

As the Chief of Staff, you will work directly with our CVO and partner closely with our executive team. You will act as an extension of him and own various projects ranging from solving operational issues, driving alignment and execution on critical initiatives, increasing his efficiency by helping him prioritize his most important meetings and communications, making decisions on his behalf, and keeping our teams accountable. You will foster trust and credibility with the rest of the executive team as the CVO’s closest proxy and advisor. Your main objective will be to identify and remove bottlenecks for him and partner closely to scale SCDC’s business.

You will have a unique opportunity to view and understand a company’s day-to-day challenges and priorities from the vantage point of a CVO. You will be exposed to every function at SCDC (product, operations, finance, engineering, data, marketing, etc.) and learn how to execute big-picture strategies and navigate the intricacies of a complex business. We are creating a new category, so this role is expected to evolve/change over time as we learn more.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Acts as a strategic advisor to the CVO and senior management team.
  • Represents the CVO in meetings, by email, and phone calls with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manages the CVO's calendar and prioritizes their time and schedule.
  • Drafts letters, emails, reports, and other correspondence on behalf of the CVO.
  • Supports the CVO in meetings by taking notes and assuming responsibility for completing action items.
  • Acts as the liaison between the CVO and other executives, clients, and stakeholders to ensure consistent communication, involvement, or decision-making at the proper time.
  • Participates in strategic planning, policy development, and decision-making with the CVO and senior management team.
  • Ensures timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives of the CVO.
  • Researches and recommends new and revised strategies.
  • Creates and maintains systems and processes to streamline operations.
  • Maintains accurate, confidential files and data records.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field, MBA or PhD and/or 10 years plus of relevant experience; or comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership as Chief Of Staff, COO, Project Management Office Leader or similar executive positions within a relevant industry, preferably in real estate.
  • A record of accomplishments of successful executive leadership, preferably in a senior management role, such as Chief of Staff, COO, or similar.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing corporate strategies and projects that align with the company's mission and goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and expansion/growth initiatives.
  • Strong decision-making skills, including the capacity to make critical decisions and take accountability for outcomes.
  • Experience as a Chief of Staff in a startup environment is desirable.
  • A commitment to innovation and the capacity to adapt to changing market conditions and industry trends.
  • High-level experience representing an organization externally, with exposure to media and public speaking before large, high-profile groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage time sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among executives, partners, and staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical behavior, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated ability to motivate a team and inspire greatness.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • This position is in Downtown Houston, Texas 77002.
  • The minimum salary is $312,000, the maximum $780,000 and may be adjusted based on experience, education, knowledge, skills, and previous salary history.
  • This is a primarily on-site role (Monday through Friday). Given the nature of the business, we do not offer remote working opportunities.
  • The ideal candidate is seeking immediate employment and can be available to start immediately or within a maximum of two weeks upon final employment agreement.
  • Limited relocation assistance may be provided for the ideal candidate if necessary.
