The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the ongoing effectiveness and efficiency of Business Systems and processes in pursuit of improving member loyalty. This individual is the subject matter expert on the interaction of business processes and the applications on which those processes depend, coordinating with vendors and internal resources on addressing challenges and capitalizing on opportunities. This individual serves as a liaison between application business owners and both internal and external technical resources. The Business Systems Analyst plays an integral role on projects, service enhancements and the daily operation of a variety of Business Systems, ensuring alignment and efficiency across people, process, and technology. In their role, the Business Systems Analyst contributes to a culture of inspired member experience centered on unparalleled service – the kind that creates the Unitus difference.
Primary Responsibilities
- Identify efficiencies, challenges and opportunities related to Business Systems and processes and collaborate with business owners and IT to recommend and implement enhancements. Drive continuous improvement changes and play key roles in projects with a focus on member impact, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives. Coordinate the testing of system and process changes, completing test system configurations and helping to identify and coordinate application testing resources.
- Participate in the troubleshooting and resolution of system issues. Keep abreast of process or system changes and assess impact on service performance and disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Participate in DR/BC testing. Develop and maintain process maps and related documentation. Monitor and help to ensure employees are operating in accordance with established policies and procedures and provide/coordinate training where needed.
- Collaborate with business units to understand processes and optimize use of Business Systems. Leverage technical and business knowledge and expertise to identify opportunities for improvement and take necessary actions to implement. Stay current with member expectations and trends in our competitive market. Stay informed on regulatory changes and analyze impact to Business Systems and processes. Work with business owners, internal compliance, and IT to plan and implement changes. Ensure systems and processes support business objectives and member expectations while remaining compliance with regulations and adhering to established information security policies and procedures. Effectively design and document procedures, written policies and training curriculum/content using adult learning methodologies.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with end users, management, internal IT, external consultants, product vendors, and networking peers. Keep up to date with related technologies, methodologies, best practices and provide recommendations for adoption/implementation. Participate in agile work processes, recuring vendor reviews and incident related meetings. Support business owners in conducting vendor due diligence and contract management, including renewal planning and negotiations.
- Monitor vendor application roadmaps to support planning and prioritization of service enhancements. Assess market and member trends as well as vendor solutions in support of service enhancement and innovation.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Business, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years in a financial institution emphasizing direct experience in member services that requires identifying cross-functional solutions in a financial institution.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as systems/business analyst, systems administrator, or relevant field.
- Experience administering retail lending product specifications, policies and procedures, credit scoring, risk-based pricing, servicing, and monitoring systems and legal documentation required.
- Requires work experience with MS Office or equivalent, preferably including Visio or other project management or process workflow methodologies.
