Job Description
The Seattle Times, a Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization, is seeking a savvy Business Systems Analyst to join our Circulation team. The Business Systems Analyst (also referred to internally as the Circulation Systems Analyst) is responsible for assuring system integrity, effective flow, and functionality between our 30+ internal and external business systems and partners. This position is responsible for providing structured and ad hoc analysis detailing efficiencies in system reliant processes primarily for Circulation Customer Service and Home Delivery that delivers performance along with insights to the Circulation leadership team, and other key information clients. Examples of other teams and departments that may require cross department collaboration include Single Copy, Print Production and Distribution, Marketing, Product, and IT Application Engineering.
Work Location: While this position is mostly remote, the finalist must be either a current or future resident of Washington state.
Compensation: The full salary range for this position is $60,900 to $83,700. We typically pay between $60,900 and $76,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Exhibit a mastery of systems, business functions and new technologies. Demonstrates versatility in facilitating requirements gathering sessions involving multiple departments, moderate degrees of conflicting thoughts and priorities and organizational change.
- Responsible for various system admin tasks such as, maintaining security and integrity, grant and remove licenses, design, and create user roles/profiles and hierarchies, user assistance, training, and adoption.
- Works closely with the IT Application Engineering team to assure system integrity, compatibility, flow, integration, and functionality between the 30+ internal and external circulation business systems and partners during releases and upgrades.
- Demonstrates an understanding of how proposed business processes and changes impact systems, reporting and integration points and vice versa.
- Proficient at conducting comprehensive analyses of the integration of new procedures, systems, and vendor solutions to assure the business unit’s objectives are successful.
- Routinely completes moderate to complex feasibility and implementation assignments.
- Create and update project/task/issue tickets as needed.
- Create and maintain business process maps and supporting documentation on a regular basis.
- Determine reporting needs/updates and help implement and maintain such reporting as necessary.
- Occasionally support and troubleshoot Seattle Times internal and external technical issues for customers/subscribers/readers and Seattle Times employees.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in an Information Technology Business Systems Analyst type role with proven ability to deliver on project commitments.
- Education: Four-year degree in Information Technology (or related field), and/or equivalent professional experience.
- Project Management experience and the ability to collaborate with various cross departmental teams.
- Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, Zuora, Office 365 (Specifically Excel and SharePoint) or similar cloud-based systems experience is preferred.
- A basic understanding or awareness of programming languages and query languages is preferred.
- Excellent documentation skills, good communication/interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adjust to a changing environment, balance and prioritize a variety of assignments.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Analytical mindset with avid attention to small details. Strong Analytical skills necessary to research and compile uses cases.
- Ability to keep confidential information when needed.
