The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst role identifies Business Intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs. This role works closely with clients and IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business/ministry decisions.
The Kind of Work You'll be Doing:
- Participate in project planning and management, including the discovery of requirements for a given project, development, testing and delivery of BI reports/dashboards
- Learn & maintain proficiency in software platform(s) for designing and delivering BI reports/dashboards
- Create and manage analytics dashboards and reports
- Establish a foundation for ministry analytics by helping key stakeholders develop KPIs
- Possess an understanding of Cru's ministry objectives
- Serve in occasional spokesperson and consultant roles to help convey a deeper understanding of BI reports/dashboards to ministry/department leaders
- Assist subject matter experts from other departments in seeing the impact and value of content and design strategies with data-driven analysis
- Think proactively about related systems/applications where data is produced and provides feedback so that data processes are optimized
- Working closely with the data engineers and data analysts to ensure all processes are streamlined and reliable
- Maintain documentation related to datasets and analysis to ensure common definitions and data use
- Maintain legacy reports/dashboards when enterprise software transitions occur
Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- BA/BS preferably in Math, Statistics, Business Intelligence, or Data Science and 3-5 years of experience in analytics preferred.
- Expert level knowledge in Microsoft PowerBI
- Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
- PowerQuery M language
- Proficient level knowledge of data models and dimensional database design development
- Proficient level knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques
- Proficient level knowledge of data hygiene and quality best practices
- Proficient level knowledge of SQL
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret large volumes of data and communicate insights in an understandable and actionable way

- Learn on the job and keep up to date on changing trends in data analytics
- Work independently with little direction or supervision

- Data Governance best practices
- Data Catalog processes and best practices
- Data Privacy policies and best practices for handling and securing data
- Google Big Query
- Proficient with either Python or R programming languages
