- Possess or be eligible to obtain within one year a current Michigan Teacher Certificate with Social Studies endorsement; RX, and be highly qualified to teach Social Studies;
- Have successful teaching experience with students of all abilities;
- Have demonstrated a passion for helping lead adolescents and young adults;
- Be flexible and organized with a willingness and ability to successfully teach multiple grade levels in the same course;
- Be eager and willing to work cooperatively with school staff and parents, and to continuelearning to develop as a professional educator;
- Have demonstrated high-level skills of Social Studies instruction, curriculum development, student growth data analysis, and can readily perform the physical demands of teaching;
- Have knowledge and skill in designing and implementing learning goals and experiences for students, documenting learning progress, and using technology for data gathering, instruction, and communication.
- Develop, refine, and successfully teach all aspects of the High School Social Studies curriculum;
- Provide individualized needs-based instruction and appropriate educational activities based on data from tests, records and observations;
- Develop and implement appropriate learning goals and assessments;
- Manage his/her students and classroom effectively to optimize learning;
- Assume professional teacher duties such as testing, maintaining individual data and records, conducting parent and teacher conferences, dealing with a range of student learning levels,contributing collaboratively to school improvement with members of the secondary teachingteam and the entire school staff;
- Work under the direction of the school principal/superintendent, and perform all duties associated with district requirements.
