The Bookkeeper is responsible for the operations, accuracy, and integrity of internal office bookkeeping functions.
The Bookkeeper is expected to have excellent attendance and communication skills, possess the ability to build lasting business relationships, and exhibit professionalism.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee maintenance of all accounting files, bank accounts, records, and journals. Prepare and provide accurate monthly reconciliations for each
- Receive and process mail payments
- Receive and process invoices (A/P management)
- Account for any electronic transactions
- Receive and process ACH Payment
- Compile credit card statements and supporting documentation from cardholders
- Work closely with the VP of Operations and external auditors on special projects
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across various levels throughout the company
- Communicate with client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts
- Maintain strict confidentiality about all subject matter within all lines of accounting unless specific authority is given by supervisor
- Continuously look for opportunities to generate efficiencies and increase the effectiveness of financial operations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite required
- Able to meet deadlines within a high volume fast-paced environment
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of related experience; previous supervisory/leadership experience required
- Sharp business acumen with excellent communication skills
- Analytical and organized with an attention to detail
- Proven ability to expertly handle confidential information and multi-task with ease
Physical Demands:
- Must be able work with a computer for a minimum of 7 hours daily either standing or sitting
- Must be able to read printed materials and computer screen with or without MS or other software accessibility functions
- Must be able to effectively communicate in e-mail, by phone, or in person during the course of the workday
