Bim (Building Information Modeling) Internship

ABOUT THE ROLE
MYR Group and our subsidiary businesses strive to provide an opportunity for students to gain education in the electrical utility construction industry by providing a hands-on and inclusive internship program. Pay: $16-$20/hour

Since 1912, Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc., a subsidiary of MYR Group, Inc, has provided comprehensive electrical construction services to clients throughout the western U.S. Sturgeon Electric has two divisions, offering both power line construction and commercial/industrial electrical construction, making it a full-service electrical provider.
Sturgeon Electric's Commercial and Industrial (C&I) electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, telecommunications, traffic signalization, gas distribution, high voltage distribution service and maintenance to clients. Sturgeon Electric has experience performing projects under Integrated Lean Project Delivery methods, and also offers pre-construction services, in-house pre-fabrication capabilities, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities.
Essential Functions

• The BIM Specialist performs technical tasks in Revit and AutoCad software
• Work with office and project staff to prepare BIM models of new and existing electrical systems within commercial buildings
• These models are used to provide project coordination with other trades, dimensioned shop drawings for prefabrication and field installation, takeoffs using Revit Schedules, assist with preconstruction efforts, and as-built record drawings
• Participation in the Lunch & Learn internship program provided by the MYR Group Internship Leadership team

ABOUT YOU
Qualifications

• College sophomore or above working towards a related undergraduate degree or be currently enrolled in or attending trade school. If you are a recent graduate, you must be within 1 year of your graduation date
• Experience with Revit & AutoCAD MEP is helpful

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prepare and give presentations.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Ability to communicate with employees and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
