The DOCSIS PHY Test Engineer Intern position resides in the Lab Services department at CableLabs. This department tests products and solutions in wired and wireless technologies. Our team plays a crucial role in certifying DOCSIS customer premise equipment (CPE) for deployment by cable service operators worldwide and the mass production of those devices in millions of homes and businesses worldwide.
Why This Internship Is Exciting
You will focus on learning several key DOCSIS PHY Acceptance Test Plans (ATPs) and the test systems designed to validate them.
What You'll Do
- Learn DOCSIS 3.1 and 4.0 ATPs.
- Learn the graphical interfaces and features of at least one PHY test system.
- Work side-by-side with senior PHY engineers to learn the tools and testing process.
- Learn and execute DOCSIS stability testing on simulated HFC plant configurations.
What Is a Must Have:
- Enrolled in Junior or Senior year Electrical Engineering Program.
- Appropriate level of knowledge in the OSI model, specifically in Layer 1, the physical layer
- Previous experience presenting and demonstrating technical topics.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
