Program Goals:
  • Create a career ladder opportunity for interns to gain first-hand work experience relative to DEN's business environment, mission, vision, and goals with the goal of convert-to-hire
  • Expose interns to a variety of career opportunities within the aviation industry
  • Empower interns to learn new job skills or improve on an existing skillset in a specific technical area(s)
  • Establish a professional mentorship relationship for interns and their mentors

Denver International Airport emerging talent positions are required to attend all sessions of professional development within the cohort model. With the Building Information ModelingTeam, you will experience:
  • Hands-on Experience with Cutting-Edge BIM Technology: As a BIM intern at a major International Airport, you'll be at the forefront of the construction industry, using advanced software like Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Tandem to create and manipulate 3D models of the airport infrastructure. Imagine visualizing the intricate network of runways, taxiways, facilities, and drainage systems come to life on your screen in a real-world setting!
  • Collaboration with Airport Design Professionals: You'll be part of a dynamic team of design professionals coordinating with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors, all working together to bring the airport to life. You'll gain invaluable insights into the collaborative nature of large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Real-World Impact on a Global Scale: Your work won't just be on paper - it will directly impact the lives of millions of travelers around the world. Knowing that your contributions are helping to create a smoother and more efficient travel experience can be incredibly fulfilling.

About You
Ideal Candidate Summary
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
  • Studying in the field of architecture, engineering, construction management, drafting or a similar field
  • Interpersonal Skills - Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, cooperation, concern, and politeness to others and relates well to different people from varied backgrounds and different situations
  • Interest in BIM Software: Get hands-on with industry-standard BIM software like AutoCAD, Revit, or Construction Cloud to master 3D modeling, visualization, and data management
  • Data Analysis and Management: Develop skills for working with design models, construction drawings, and point clouds to inform BIM models and construction planning
  • BIM Drafting and Documentation: Learn the ropes of working with construction drawings, plans, and sections in BIM models from an owner's perspective and understand airport-specific modeling standards
  • Problem-Solving Savvy: Hone your problem-solving skills to tackle challenges that arise during BIM modeling and design, approaching them with critical thinking and a can-do attitude
  • Aviation Enthusiasm: Cultivate a genuine interest in airport operations and infrastructure. Your passion for the industry will fuel your learning and contribute to your success

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor's, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion).
  • Experience: None
  • Education and Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model with a required minimum of three days in office. Employees work where needed to support business, at the Denver International Airport. We do not offer housing or relocation assistance for this position.
Internship Duration and Hours
This is a 6-month college internship with a completion date of December 31st, 2024, with a maximum of 35 hours per week.
FBI Background Check
FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
