This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan three times per week, at minimum
The Role
The Battery Electrical Systems CAE engineer, in the Global Electrification Battery Systems (GEBS) department, will be responsible to develop and execute physics-based one-dimensional electrical models for various high voltage components like batteries, CMU, BDU, BRFM, BDSB, fuses, cables, connectors, and contactors. The analysis engineer will closely interact with other team members and work cross functionally to develop new models and correlate them with the test results. The analysis engineer will be also required to closely work with component suppliers to develop the models.
What You'll Do
  • Develop high voltage battery and Electrical Systems models using tools like Saber, Spice, Simplorer, Plecs, Matlab, Simulink and Simscape
  • Work collaboratively with Design Release Engineers, Component Technical Specialists, Electrical Architects, and Component Suppliers to develop electrical models
  • Perform electrical circuit CAE analysis to deliver design solutions which are robust and reliable utilizing optimization and statistical methods when appropriate
  • Collaborate with other CAE teams to integrate higher fidelity models like battery cell electrochemistry and thermal/CFD into electrical system simulations
  • Ensure on time delivery of high-quality models and analysis results

Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ yrs of experience with analysis, design and/or testing of electrical components and sub-systems for conventional and/or electrified vehicles
  • Experience in Electrical Data Analysis tool products like Synopsys Saber, Spice, Simplorer, Matlab, Simulink and Simscape
  • Excellent understanding and application of engineering theory and principles of operation for electrical mechanisms
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with development and usage of CAE/CAD tools
  • Black belt in performing DFSS analysis
  • Knowledge of Lithium-ion battery cell modeling and simulation Modeling (or other cell chemistries: Lead Acid, etc.)
