Description:
PROGRAM SPECIALIST-BILINGUAL SPANISH
The USC Annenberg Center for Third Space Thinking is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and collaborative team player to help plan, develop and deliver our Third Space Youth Institute (TSYI), a program that empowers youth to become the leaders the future needs by teaching them critical skills for success in the classroom and the workplace.
TSYI is a residential leadership program where students learn essential communication and problem-solving skills required to thrive throughout the lifecycle of leadership.
Reporting to the Executive Director of the USC Annenberg Center for Third Space Thinking, the Program Specialist will be responsible for cultivating and managing existing educational partnerships and identifying and developing new partnerships that further the Center’s strategic goals.
The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who is constantly on the lookout for new development opportunities. Someone who knows how to connect, engage and build partnerships with new stakeholders.
This is a part-time (22.5 hours per week), one-year, fixed term staff position with the possibility of becoming a full-time position contingent on funding.
Job Responsibilities:
- Leads the Center’s fundraising and development efforts for programs tailored for underserved youth. Identifies and develops new funding sources for program expansion.
- Primarily responsible for the ongoing administration of our summer youth programs; maintaining contacts, communications, paperwork, reports and evaluations.
- Assists program management with administrative functions including planning, budgeting, delivering and marketing program services.
- Researches the market and develops marketing strategies to promote our youth programs. Creates information materials and plans events to support marketing strategies.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive partnership strategy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Qualifications:
- Experience in education, community engagement, or development/fundraising.
- Existing contacts in secondary education considered a plus.
- Strong project management skills required.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and create positive professional report with program faculty, students, staff and partners.
- Experience and appreciation for working with persons of various social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to respond in a calm and effective manner in the face of conflicts, hostility, indifference or non-compliance and bring resolution to a problem. Independent resourcefulness to gather information to complete projects and meet competing deadlines.
- Team-oriented individual who seeks out tasks when work is completed and assists colleagues to ensure goals, requirements, and deadlines are achieved.
- Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.
- Requires reliable source of transportation to attend events, and donor visits at variable hours.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree +5 years of experience in education, community engagement or development.
