Job Summary:

The Analysis & Test Department of the Mechanical Engineering Directorate is seeking an experienced Structural Analyst Expert with working knowledge and documented experience in the area of Structural Analysis and Test activities in support of all phases of programs including proposal, development and production. This includes developing and optimizing designs to work with high temperature materials, in multiple operating environments spanning the range of flight conditions. This position is in Tucson, AZ.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:

As a core team member your tasks will include:
Analyze complex missile structures via classical and/or advanced methods of analysis
Articulate risk to various customers based on data driven solutions
Drive the final design working in a collaborative multi-disciplined environment

Support the Structural analysis community in Raytheon as a mentor and subject matter expert
Review critical failure investigations as part of Failure Review Boards
Analyses will cover a wide range of difficult problems, requiring solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. The analyses will span the spectrum from classical methods to detailed numerical solutions using computer methods and finite element analysis. Working independently or coordinating the efforts of a team, the select candidate will be expected to define the scope and level of analysis required to meet required objectives and will be held accountable for completing the work within the agreed upon cost and schedule. Serving as an organizational spokesperson, the selected candidate will act as an advisor to management and customers on critical design decisions. The candidate will be expected to effectively present work products in internal and external reviews and provide expert counseling and mentoring.
You will be expected to lead diverse teams, providing technical oversight and task delegation. The customers of this position will include internal Raytheon personnel and programs, as well as external Government(s) personnel and programs. The selected candidate will work with the customer and engineering leadership to define testing required to validate Structural analyses and to verify that hardware is compliant with requirements.
BasicQualifications:


  • A Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 12 years of professional experience in Structural Analysis, Structural testing: planning, organization, execution, data reduction, and correlation
  • Experience in linear and/or non-linear stress analysis or fatigue analysis, or static test, or system dynamic analysis and/or test.
  • Experience in vibration analysis and/or environmental test including vibration and/or shock.
  • Experience with Structural Finite Element Analysis using NASTRAN, ANSYS or equivalent software
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications:


  • Experince performing classical methods based on fundamental equations
  • Demonstrated experience in nonlinear, orthotropic material analysis (i.e., composites, C/C) and Structural integrity evaluation of these material systems
  • Understanding of analyzing material systems that are nonlinear with respect to temperature and stress
  • Ability to be given a program from its conceptual design state, define required structural tasks, understand the critical path and requirements, organize and lead a team through PDR, CDR and qualification testing
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and knowledge transfer within a Structural Analysis community
  • Experience supporting development testing for material characterization as well as subcomponent and flight testing.
  • Experience reducing test results for specification definition and model correlation
  • Experience Developing critical load cases and required testing of material and components - static and dynamic loads
  • Experience defining and executing of ground tests of Structurally critical environments
  • Experience collaborating with the thermal analysts to analyze the Structural integrity of thermal protection system integration with airframe
  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
