The Language Editing team currently has a full-time opportunity for a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Assistant/Associate Editor. Applicants must have a strong background in academic research and scientific writing skills. As part of the Language Editing team, you will assist researchers in a variety of disciplines in improving their manuscripts to a level suitable for peer review.
The Assistant/Associate Editor provides valuable support to the Managing Editor; builds and maintains good working relationships with contract editors; and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality of service and the time-sensitive delivery of projects. Assistance with day-to-day administrative responsibilities may be required.
Applicants must be flexible, have outstanding time management skills, and be able to prioritize, organize and coordinate ongoing assignments. This position is results-oriented and deadline-driven. Strong written communication skills are a must.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
· Act as a liaison between a vast network of contract editors and members of the in-house editorial team
· Assign, track, review, and follow up as necessary to ensure the on-time delivery of projects
· Consistently deliver high-quality projects
· Address editor inquiries and assist the client management team with addressing client concerns
· Other duties (e.g., assistance with other service initiatives, research communication efforts) as required
Skills and requirements:
· Demonstrated ability to edit academic manuscripts in accordance with accepted publication standards; advanced degrees or previous research experience will serve as a plus
· Extremely strong time management skills, with flexibility and adaptability in times of change
· Excellent spoken and written communication skills
· High level of self-motivation and personal accountability
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Excel
· Familiarity with LaTeX typesetting a plus
· Data analysis (e.g., statistics) and/or graphic design experience a plus
· Fluency in language other than English a plus but not required
