Description
We are hiring an Assistant Vice President of Engineering who will lead the Engineering team in the development and maintenance of sophisticated distributed system environments, encompassing core applications, virtualization, storage, and network infrastructure. Their responsibilities include strategic planning and execution of technology initiatives in line with organizational goals. They are charged with assembling and overseeing a skilled team, fostering collaboration with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to ensure superior performance standards. This pivotal leadership role is crucial in steering technological innovation and operational excellence within the organization.
Business Hours
Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 5:30PM
Based upon business needs, our positions may require working flexible hours.
This is hybrid-remote position based in Anaheim Hills, CA. with the opportunity to work 1 day in-office and 4 days working remote from home.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years in leading a multi-domain IT Group of 5 or more individuals (Network, Servers, Applications, and Architecture).
  • Management experience to include hiring, assessing performance, development of personnel plans, and disciplinary action.
  • 3+ years in leading technical projects, from initiation to closure phases.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience on a busy network (500+ users, 200+ servers, complex application data flows).
  • Ability to meet Driving Requirements: Current CA state driver's license, reliable transportation and current state liability auto insurance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors of Science / Arts or equivalent.
  • Recent technical certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, VMWare, HPE or equivalent technologies.

Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in applicable MS Office programs (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of OSI model.
  • Strong understanding of Vulnerability Management Remediation processes.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure Platform and related technologies (e.g., Entra, Purview, as well as tenant applications such as Exchange, Teams, and related).
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft on-premises technology in a hybrid domain environment from the basics up (e.g., from Domain Services through DNS/DHCP/IPAM and through security overlay tools like SEIM, PAM, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Virtualized environments based on VMWare and HPE SANs.
  • Strong understanding of SASE networking technology such as CATO, Velocloud or Versa, including control plane modules such as CASB and integrating them with Microsoft 365 tenant DLP (MIP) policies.
  • Understanding of Linux (RHEL is a plus, but any modern enterprise distribution is acceptable).
  • Understanding of network and application security implementations, including how control matrices are implemented.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to the server/application and network teams, guiding them in aligning their activities with the credit union's strategic objectives.
  • Engage in direct, hands-on technical work, solving complex IT challenges and implementing solutions.
  • Actively manage the IT project list and backlog, including the prioritization of critical unscheduled projects like audit remediations, ensuring effective use of resources.
  • Commit to each team member's professional development, nurturing skills essential for individual and team growth in the evolving IT landscape.
  • Regularly assess team performance and project milestones, providing insightful reports to senior management to inform strategic decisions.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation within the IT team, staying abreast of emerging technologies and introducing new processes to enhance operational performance.
  • Complete understanding and active application the Exceptional Experience Guide expectations.
  • Must be able and available to work a "hybrid" schedule, per business operations requirement, as needed.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

We support Pay Transparency and are a pay-for-performance organization that benchmarks base pay to the 50th percentile of market data.
Pay Scale: Min. $160,179 / Mid. $196,773 / Max. $241,820* per year
*Actual compensation will be based on geographical location, work experience, education and/or skill level.
