At NorthBay Health the Assistant Vice President, Financial Operation will oversee the system’s financial modeling, planning, projections and financial data analytics. These including the development and maintenance of the annual operating budget, capital budget, monthly projections, 5-10 year financial strategic planning, decision support services, statistical reporting, productivity management and operational benchmarking. Works with senior and operational leadership to project, monitor and perform retrospective lookbacks on new service lines, locations and growth markets. Initiates and delegates projects related to comprehensive program financial reviews including special cost, trend, impact or other analyses to improve financial performance of established operations. Oversees labor productivity reporting, benchmarking, projecting and budgeting.
The AVP collaborates with operational and financial leadership to develop and maintain cost accounting systems including methodology and reporting. Responsible for evaluation, recommendation and implementation of policies and procedures within areas of control. Management responsibilities include: planning, directing operations, fiscal accountability, staffing and personnel management, staff development, and support functions to leadership. Facilitates effective communications and provides financial leadership consistent with System goals and values.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field. Masters in Business or Healthcare Administration or related field or CPA.
- Experience: Eight years progressively responsible healthcare finance experience; management experience in a complex healthcare environment required. Extensive knowledge of hospital accounting, budgeting and reimbursement principles. Experience in analyzing and explaining budget variances and complex program analysis to management personnel is required. Experience with hospital information system implementations is desirable.
- Skills: Experience using computer networks, mainframes and microcomputers, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), general ledger applications, budgeting and projection software, capital budgeting and tracking software, cost accounting applications and data warehousing. Knowledge of GAAP and financial guidelines governing the operation of healthcare providers (OSHPD, Medicare Reimbursement, etc.). Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and share accountability for team outcomes. Demonstrates effective time management, ability to balance workload and complete projects within agreed upon deadlines. Effectively communicates and cooperates in a professional manner with staff and leadership. Ability and desire to work on complex analyses. Proactive participation in planning to improve accountability, effectiveness, and working relationships. Committed to continuing professional education. Requires a high comfort level with taking initiative and responsibility, high energy and productivity, and the ability to manage details in an organized work style. Must be able to handle changing priorities and delegate workload. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. - Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate orally and in writing at all levels from staff to Senior Leadership. Ability to negotiate complex issues with internal and external customers. - Analytical Abilities: Versatile in complex spreadsheet and database applications. Understands complex financial analysis techniques and when to apply these tools (i.e. demand analysis, financial simulations, forecasting, IRR and discounted cash flow). The incumbent works with a team of highly specialized, well-trained analysts in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Compensation:
- Budgeted salary range is $195K - MAX $250K (Offered annual salary based on years of experience)
- MAX salary listed is commensurate of 20 plus years of AVP or equivalent experience
- Management Incentive Bonus eligible, optimum achievement up to 22% of the annualized salary
