About the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and MathematicsThe Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM Education) comprises over 24 full-time faculty members, 400 undergraduate students, and 150 graduate students. STEM Ed advances education through scholarship, leadership, and advocacy. Faculty in STEM Ed prepare professionals who have deep content knowledge, demonstrate a strong working knowledge of effective discipline-based pedagogies, and realize the potential of digital technologies to enhance learning. The department offers a Ph.D. in Learning and Teaching in STEM with concentrations in Mathematics and Statistics Education, Science Education, and Engineering and Technology Education. The department also offers an online Master of Education degree in STEM Education, with additional concentrations in Mathematics and Statistics Education, Science Education, and Engineering and Technology Education. In addition, STEM Ed offers undergraduate programs in Science Education, Mathematics Education, and Technology, Engineering and Design Education as well as an online Master of Arts in Teaching in all three content areas. Through the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as two minors and a graduate certificate, the department exemplifies an innovative merging of teacher education and the learning sciences that results in new pathways for teaching, scholarship, leadership, and service.
- Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Business and Marketing Education and general teacher education
- Coordinating an Initial Licensure Program (ILP) in Business and Marketing Education
- Recruiting and Marketing for the ILP in Business and Marketing
- Ongoing course development.
- Coordinating the program’s course offerings and staffing with the program faculty
- Developing or maintaining marketing and communications, such as program website, brochures, newsletters, intranet, correspondence, etc.
- Providing curricular and academic advice to students
- Providing support to advisors
- Supervising student workers
- Participating in the recruitment, employment and orientation of new students
- Supervision of graduate assistants
- Identifying methods and resources for facilitating faculty and program’s research impact
- Interacting with groups beyond the university to identify resources
- Other duties that relate to the course(s) being taught.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Initial Licensure Program in Business and Marketing Education.
Requires a doctorate degree, an equivalent degree, or professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Business and Marketing Education, with a focus on engaging and guiding students in their learning
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to publish work in appropriate venues
- Ability to develop and maintain marketing and communication materials
- Experience in coordinating field-based programs in Business and Marketing Education.
- K-12 teaching experience in Business and Marketing Education.
- Experience in curriculum development.
- Engagement in ongoing professional development, with the possibility of presentation with related professional associations
