About the Department of Education Leadership, Policy, and Human DevelopmentThe Department of Education Leadership, Policy, and Human Development (ELPHD) comprises 40 full-time faculty members and more than 750 students. ELPHD advances education through scholarship, leadership, and advocacy. Faculty in ELPHD prepare counselors, educational leaders, and workplace professionals who are committed to improve education—from K-12 schools, to community colleges and universities, to workplace training—through applied theory, rigorous research, professional ethics, and data-driven best practice. The Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development seeks an exceptional candidate to work in the area of Educational Leadership. Candidates will be hired at the rank of Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor, depending on education and experience. This is a renewable three-year appointment with a teaching load to include graduate courses and internship supervision/coaching. We are seeking a highly effective collaborative leader and educator with successful experience in PK-12 school and/or school district leadership.
The position includes
- Teaching online and in-person courses and providing supervision within the Educational Leadership program;
- Recruiting, advising, mentoring, and supervising graduate students in research, clinical development, and dissertation supervision
- Providing service and leadership to the program area, department, college, university, and professional organizations
- Participating in outreach and service for department and college initiatives for underserved communities and high needs areas
- Engaging with stakeholders across the state of North Carolina
- Contributing to the overall departmental and college missions.
- Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership or closely related field by position start date.
- Possess or be eligible for NC Principal License
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, extension, and service
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in online teaching and related skills
- A commitment to the land grant mission of NC State to serve all types of learners in all communities
- Possess or be eligible for NC School Superintendent License
- Demonstrated potential for successful leadership in the field nationally and collaboration with faculty colleagues and community partners locally
- Demonstrated excellent public relations skills, strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills including effective presentation skills
- Knowledge of and passion for delivering effective models of school leader preparation and development with a belief in the importance of high-quality school leaders in building and sustaining successful schools
- Ability to develop and sustain a work environment that fosters continuous growth and great working relationships including a demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others to accomplish organizational goals
- Consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism, excellent time-management skills, attention to details, and ability to work independently with minimum direction/supervision
- Ability to travel to school site visits primarily in partner school districts in North Carolina and possibly to conferences.
