Job Description:
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Louisiana State University is searching for an Assistant Professor of Veterinary Practice Skills. This position is non-tenure track. This person will teach laboratory sessions in clinical and surgical skills, and communication skills. This position offers flexibility in hours, suitable for both part-time and full-time commitments, with an expectation of dedicating at least 80% effort or more.
45% Provide and supervise veterinary students in pre-operative and post-operative care of live animals. Instruct in clinical and surgical skills laboratories across years 1-4 in the DVM program.
15% Instruct in communication skills labs across years 1-4 in the DVM program.
10% Develop and administer objective structured clinical skills examinations (OSCEs).
5% Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
DVM or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
DVM or equivalent with 3 years of Veterinary clinical practice experience; 2 years of teaching experience

In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
Required to be capable of lifting more than 50 pounds, standing or walking for prolonged periods, able to reach above and below the shoulder, vision (near sight), vision (far sight), kneel or sit on the floor, push/pulling, grasping, crawling, climbing, sitting, bending, squatting, and/or twisting.
