MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
I. Minimum degree: Doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., or DMA) required. ABD will be considered, however the degree must be conferred by the start of the appointment.
2. At least 3 years of successful K-12 teaching.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
I. Effective university teaching.
2. Certification or specialization in an elementary/general music pedagogy (Orff, Kodaly, Eurythmics, MLT, etc.)
3. Experience with secondary choral MUSIC EDUCATION.
4. Record of, or potential for, research and scholarly contributions to the MUSIC EDUCATION field.The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary/general MUSIC EDUCATION and other subjects in the candidate's expertise. The successful candidate will teach traditional, contemporary, and emerging MUSIC EDUCATION approaches, and be committed to diversity. equity, inclusion, belonging, and access in music learning. The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker and pedagogue, who designs curricula in response to the evolving needs of contemporary students.
In addition to teaching, the candidate will advise undergraduate and graduate MUSIC EDUCATION
students, work with the College of Education to guide student teachers in residency I and 2, participate meaningfully in local in-service teacher workshops and trainings, develop working relationships with regional music educators, and conduct other duties as assigned according to the candidate's qualifications and the program needs. University service through committee work and administrative support of the MUSIC EDUCATION program is expected. The successful candidate will develop meaningful working relationships with students, faculty, and staff in the School of Creative and Performing Arts, the College of Education and Human Development, and other university entities. The candidate will engage in recruitment activities to forge relationships with potential and incoming students.Employment Type: Unclassified
