The Incumbent will serve as a receptionist and, when needed, as a substitute teacher. This will include a wide range of clerical, teacher and administrative support. Responsibilities include:
- monitoring the security entrance
- greeting parents and children
- identifying and directing visitors
- answering the telephone and disseminating messages
- providing resource and referral information
- maintaining and updating all required records pertaining to children, staff and students
- client billing and financial recordkeeping
- taking inventory and purchasing supplies
- acting as a liaison with other YC departments
- maintaining waiting lists and assisting with enrollment of children
- scheduling student observations and lab times
- scheduling parent workshops
- leading tours of the center
- providing other administrative support, and performing other duties, as needed.
- when needed, substitute in classrooms - assistant will maintain a safe, stimulating, and age-appropriate learning environment. Will assist with room set-up, care-giving routines, small group activities, record keeping, and housekeeping chores as needed. Will arrange the learning environment and interact with children in ways that promote their social/emotional, physical, and cognitive skills.
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
- High School graduate, or GED equivalency
- Minimum of two years of general office, clerical, and bookkeeping experience
- Experience working with young children, birth through age 5
- Ability to meet the unique developmental and learning needs of infants/toddlers in a nurturing manner.
- Respect for children's individual differences and learning styles.
- Calm, patient and caring demeanor.
- Flexibility, creative problem-solving skills and positive attitude.
- Strong interpersonal skills
