Description
GENERAL INTRODUCTION:
The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. (Directory on the Pastoral Ministry of Bishops, 198)
Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:
Oversee Central Office Archdiocesan facilities which include: First Hill Chancery Complex, Archbishop Brunett Retreat Center, Camps, and other owned locations.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
- Participates with the Director and manages implementing the mission of the department. This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating the department's O&M programs and services including the facilities budget and vendor management process. May serve as a professional resource in O&M services for parishes and schools in the Archdiocese.
- Supervises, trains and schedules facility maintenance staff.
- Conducts regular inspections of Facilities and grounds to assess and address repairs and safety concerns.
- Develops and oversees preventative maintenance programs for all buildings including PM logs and reports; keeping the Director informed of equipment status and budgeting; and maintenance of the system equipment. Implements the Asset Management software and ensure that building staff is trained in building systems' operations and emergency shut offs.
- Assures that Life Safety and Security systems and the associated equipment are always maintained and operating properly. This includes managing service contractors and attends quarterly Safety Committee meetings.
- Manages the Chancery transportation programs.
- Oversees contractors/vendors and capital repair projects including contract preparation in coordination with the Construction Department.
- Assists the Director with coordination/implementation of special projects. Serves as a primary liaison to other Chancery departments on issues related to facilities, safety, insurance, human resources, etc.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Primary:
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
Experience:
- At least 10 years' experience managing facilities or operations departments.
- Familiar with building codes and regulations, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
- Experienced in reading, reviewing, and analyzing construction plans and specifications.
Other Elements:
- Knowledge of and/or familiarity with the Catholic Church in Western Washington.
- Communicates effectively with various stakeholders, including staff, contractors, and the public, to build positive relationships and facilitate collaboration.
- Understanding of laws and regulations along with the willingness to keep up with changes.
- Familiarity with construction, architecture, and various systems, such as HVAC and electrical.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must possess a valid Washington driver's license and the ability to travel within the Archdiocese of Seattle.
- Demonstrated and proficient experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Performance oriented with a focus on Quality Assurance.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements for this position.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
