SUMMARY
The Air & Sea Freight Imports Manager will be directly responsible, for the gross profit growth of the business, overseeing and managing the quality of service assuring commitments are achieved and maintained in accordance with client requirements and company objectives, and managing the overhead of the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop the Flower Consolidation business from Ecuador and Colombia maximizing HPL Apollo GP and making sure HPL Apollo becomes the leader of that business. To reach this goal he/she should:
- Get new customers on board the consolidation in conjunction with HPL Apollo Ecuador & Colombia
- Review pricing maximizing GP.
- Negotiate airlines rates and make sure they prioritize our shipments (in conjunction with origins countries)
- Always look for ways to make HPL Apollo’s service better and more efficient.
- Find Air & Sea freight businesses to be added to the HPL Apollo portfolio, such as Importers of flowers from Colombia and Ecuador to be added to existing air consolidation, Produce coming by air or ocean from all over the world, seafood coming by air or ocean, etc.
- Find Cross Docking businesses that make operational and financial sense to HPL Apollo.
- Responsible for the Air & Sea Freight Imports operations completely, from A to Z, making sure customers are satisfied with our service and operations are run efficiently. Develop and run KPI.
- Manage the Air & Sea Freight Imports Team.
- Work with other department managers to improve the quality of service.
- Work with overseas offices to develop business growth.
- Upsell current clients and build a network of new clients.
- Maintain service relations with clients and other offices.
- Provide quality customer service to all vendors, shippers, and agents to facilitate the required objectives and provide customers with daily updates.
- All operations must be done having Safety as a priority.
Responsible to ensure operations are compliant with internal policies and external government regulations such as TSA, CBP, and USDA, among others
QualificationsQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE- Preferably – associate degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience in logistics and freight forwarding; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets the most complex documents.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or overseas agents.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Spanish is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as freight rates, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic accounting.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
