The Office of Vital Statistics has an opening for an Administrative Specialist II position within the Adoptionand Birth Amendment Unit. The Vital Statistics Branch is seeking an individual who is self-motivated andwilling to be involved with birth records at a detailed level.
The ideal candidate exhibits exceptionalplanning/organizational/communication skills, and is comfortable working with hospital staff, attorneys,administrative staff, and the public. Computer literacy and the ability to multi-task with different computerprograms/systems is essential.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Receives and reviews Adoption Judgements, VS-102 forms (Adoption Information Forms), Specific Court Orders, Name Change Orders, and New Birth Corrections to ensure they are acceptable for processing according to KRS 213.
- Maintaining security and confidentiality of vital records
- Assures that all corrections are made to birth records, and edits are provided in required systems.
- Provides professional and prompt communication to customers.
- Interpreting departmental policy to the public
- Drafts correspondence or other responses to administrators, attorneys, clients and/or the general public which require interpretation and application of policies and procedures.
- Contacts public by phone and in writing to resolve inaccuracies or inconsistencies in records and reports.
- Complying with KRS 213 and 901 KAR mandates
- Provides direct service to walk-in applicants.
- Supports the Unit Supervisor in the responsibilities for the Adoption and Amendment Unit's requirements
