The Department of Exercise, Health, and Sport Sciences offers degrees in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, and Recreation and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation, Health Sciences. This Administrative Specialist position pays $18.22/hour (non-negotiable) for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System. This is a full-time position located on our Gorham Campus.
The ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work independently and in a team environment while maintaining attention to detail are essential. The successful candidate will be well-organized and possess excellent written, phone and verbal communication skills and act professionally while working with others. The Department utilizes various data systems and web platforms and requires someone with the ability to navigate such systems.

Some of the responsponsiblities of the position include but are not limited to:
- financial purchasing: purchase all necessary items and services for the department including obtaining written approvals and communications with vendors and strategic procurement
- ensure proper procedures are followed to close out the end of fiscal years
- work with strategic procurement and risk management on any vendor contracts needed
- monitor financial activity and coordinate with CSTH financial manager to ensure we are within our budget and move money to appropriate account lines
- scheduling meetings and taking minutes when necessary
- assigning faculty advisors for new students
- enrolling students into classes (e.g., overrides)
- creating fall, winter, spring and summer part time and overload contracts
- organizing graduation certification forms for approval by faculty advisors
- submitting change of major and DPR updates and entries
- monitoring students DPR updates to ensure proper modules are activated
- helping to organize department curriculum and peer committee assignments
- helping to organize retention events
- contacting vendors for calibrations of equipment
- updating marketing materials
- preparing for open houses
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) or international degree equivalency
- 2+ years of administrative support experience
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Demonstrated computer proficiency.
