Great Lakes Institution of Technology offers short-term career training options in a variety of healthcare and healthcare-related fields. The Administrative Assistant/Receptionist is the first person that visitors, current and prospective students encounter, and this initial contact plays a positive and pivotal role in our daily operations. The ideal candidate will be friendly, organized, accurate and punctual with a strong attendance history.

Responsibilities
- Ability to work with students, staff and visitors in a warm and welcoming manner.
- Enjoy working with people and assisting others
- Must demonstrate a professional and welcoming phone etiquette with the ability to determine the caller’s specific request to direct calls appropriately and/or to provide accurate information; must be able to take accurate messages.
- Must have working knowledge of general office equipment including but not limited to copiers, and postage machine with the ability to assist with paper jams, toner replacement, and postage/mailings.
- Must have the ability to create and/or update PowerPoint presentations
- Must have experience using MS Excel with the ability to create simple spreadsheets and/or maintain existing ones using standard functionality
- Facilitate the visitor check in/out process
- Accurate data entry, strong organization skills to assist Admissions and ensure student files are processed timely and accurately.
- Assist with new student testing, and projects related to orientation and graduation.
- Responsible for ordering and inventory of office supplies and assist with the bookstore inventory.
- Other projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an office environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with the ability to learn additional software as needed
- Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to listen effectively
- Comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks without guidance
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Punctual with strong attendance history
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of higher education processes a plus.
