3-4 years of experience in administrative support, in particular scheduling of meetings and calendaring
Experience providing administrative support and customer service to multiple stakeholders in an office environment
Prior experience organizing events
Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
Experience working in a University environment
Job Description:
The Office of Innovation Commercialization (OIC) comprises the Iowa State University Research Foundation and the Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer. OIC evaluates and develops intellectual property strategies for technology emerging from the research at ISU and the Ames National Lab and executes partnerships for their commercial development while managing industry relations for sponsored research projects.
The OIC is seeking applicant for an Administrative Assistant position. Under direct supervision, provide administrative and clerical support to the Director of the OIC and associated staff.
Example of Duties
- Calendar Management
- Providing "front line" interaction with all visitors;
- Managing telephone calls, and general email inquiries with high attention to professionalism and awareness of appropriate protocols and points of contacts within the office
- Monitoring and maintaining all office supplies in a cost conscious manner
- Conducts basic research, gathers data, and prepares reports.
- Arranges calls and schedules meetings.
- Assists with making basic travel reservations and itineraries.
- Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings.
- Types correspondence, reports, or other documents.
- Edits documents for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

• Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments
• Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature

• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
