Responsibilities:
- Patient Reception:
- Greet and welcome patients in a professional and friendly manner.
- Register new patients, update existing patient information, and verify insurance details.
- Schedule appointments and manage the appointment calendar efficiently.
- Administrative Support:
- Perform general clerical duties, including photocopying, faxing, filing, and data entry.
- Answer phone calls, take messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
- Handle and process medical records with utmost confidentiality.
- Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations and maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining and updating office manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Insurance Verification:
- Verify patients' insurance information and ensure accurate billing.
- Assist patients in understanding their insurance coverage and coordinate pre-authorizations when necessary.
- Billing and Coding Assistance:
- Assist in medical coding and billing procedures.
- Collaborate with billing department to resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Electronic Health Records (EHR):
- Proficiently navigate and update electronic health records.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient information.
- Appointment Coordination:
- Coordinate and confirm patient appointments.
- Manage appointment cancellations or rescheduling as needed.
- Communication Liaison:
- Facilitate communication between healthcare providers, patients, and other staff members.
- Relay important messages and information promptly.
- Maintain Clean and Organized Workspace:
- Ensure the reception area and administrative spaces are organized and presentable.
- Manage and order office supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Proven experience as a medical Administrative Assistant or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance processes.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
