Job Description
Western Nevada College is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 4 in the Student Services Division at the Financial Assistance office.
The position will be providing administrative and clerical support to both the Financial Assistance Office and Veteran Resource Center. This position will facilitate the reviewing of daily downloads of ISIR (Institutional Student Information Record) files from the Department of Education, processing daily and weekly PeopleSoft jobs for efficient and effective loading of files, resolving files in suspense, updating checklists, and sending communications. It will also process Veteran Education Benefit Certifications in a timely and efficient manner using Enrollment Manager and other college related tools (OnBase and PeopleSoft). Other duties include, but are not limited to: reviewing semester Academic Engagement/Participation Rosters to make appropriate updates, serve as the primary contact and supervisor for FAO (Financial Aid Office) Student Employees/Work-Study students and any temporary LOA or classified front office staff, perform supply orders, ensure office equipment is working and ensuring the front office is adequately staffed.
Required Qualifications
  • This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR
  • One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above

Preferred Qualifications
Candidates experienced with Workday and OnBase programs are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 29
The classified employee pay scale is divided into 10 steps within each grade. Most employees start at a step 1 and are eligible for an annual step increase with satisfactory performance, until they reach the maximum, step 10. Classified employees are eligible for any legislatively approved cost of living increases (COLA).
