Form of workAccounts Receivable SpecialistLevel III is responsible for verifying transactions, monitoring incoming payments, confirming clean claims, and spotting accounting discrepancies. Also involved in training team members, setting strategy and monitoring progress towards goals. Auditing and trending payor activities and issues. Strong communication, problem solving, organizational and delegation skills. The liaison for the Revenue Cycle team for billing and outsourced revenue cycle departments.
Work Experience Requirements
- Minimum two (5) years of experience Accounts Receivable.
- Knowledge of reimbursement requirements and payor policy.
- Infusion background a plus.
- Ability to read an EOB (explanation of benefits) and denial reasons codes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be organized and work well under fast paced conditions.
- Has the desire to progress and take on extra responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide customer service both on the telephone and in the office for all patients and authorized representatives regarding patient accounts in accordance with office protocol.
- Customer calls regarding Accounts Receivable should be returned within 2 business days to ensure maximum patient satisfaction.
- Research and resolve incorrectly processed claims.
- Determine root causes and established trends across payors.
- Utilize reconsideration and appeals to fight denied claims.
- Advise AR leadership of workload problems, which may prevent timely follow up on accounts.
- Conducts individual and department-wide training as needed along with outsourced revenue cycle company.
- Documents timely and accurately in the EMR system.
- Completes projects as assigned.
- Attends departmental meetings and in-services as requested.
- General understanding of all other Patient Services Teams.
- Demonstrates courteous, compassionate, and professional behavior at all times.
- Proficient in computer skills regarding Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel.
- All other assigned duties.
Technology Skills:
• Competent in use of company email and Microsoft Teams as means of communication, accessing the company website to view company policies.
• Competent in the use of company self-service payroll software (time and attendance, benefits, pay statements).
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products and the ability to navigate Internet Explorer. Proficient in typing, word processing (Microsoft Outlook/Express, Word, Excel), and familiar with office equipment.
Language Skills
• This position requires a knowledge of, and sensitivity to, cultural and language differences as they pertain to patient care delivery.
Mathematical Skills
• Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
