POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounts Payable & Payroll Accountant supports the accounting functions at Forterra. Accounting duties include but are not limited to processing Accounts Payable, employee expense reports/reimbursements, payroll and adding benefits to payroll system, balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries.
Job duties are likely to include:
* Process and submitting payroll for approximately 40 people and create required Journal entries.
* Onboarding /off-boarding of employees to the payroll system.
* Maintain vendor invoice log and route invoices to appropriate personnel.
* Review all invoices for appropriate documentation, coding and approval prior to system entry.
* Enter Accounts Payable transactions in various software platforms.
* Manage vendor payment process, including scheduling timely payments, preparing checks, obtaining signatures and distributing checks.
* Upload and distribute Credit Card statements to card holders for Month End expense reports process.
* Review employee out of pocket and corporate credit card expense reports to ensure proper approval, coding and receipt documentation prior to payment.
* Schedule payments for employees out of pocket expense reimbursements.
* Reconcile balances of all corporate credit cards expense reports to monthly statements.
* Process, scan any finance mails and Deposit Checks.
* Upload/Post Bank statements to the network.
* Perform monthly bank accounts reconciliation and create required Journal entries.
* Perform multiple monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
* Process property tax payments.
* Labor & Industry Quarterly payroll filling.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Required
* Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or a related field; relevant work experience may be substituted for academic requirements.
* Two+ years of payroll processing experience.
* Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, creating pivot tables and other excel formulas.
* Works well under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
* Able to deal professionally with confidential materials.
* Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
* Able to work effectively with others, providing superior service to customers both inside and outside of the organization.
* Able to perform tasks and create deliverables from general direction.
Preferred
* Experience using accounting and /or payroll software, ADP, BambooHR strongly preferred.
TRAVEL, WORKING CONDITIONS, AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Forterra is based in the greater Seattle area and supports a hybrid work environment. We allow primarily remote work, with some in-person meetings required. This role in particular requires frequent travel (25%+) throughout western and central Washington (King, Snohomish, Skagit, Kittitas, and Yakima counties for example).
Candidates must successfully pass a background check, show proof of authorization to work in the United States, and reside in Washington state prior to employment. We are not able to sponsor applicants requiring work visas.
